Day 1:
Pickup from Jaipur airport / railway station / bus stand, received by a lady driver from Tours2Rajasthan and transfer to hotel. On arrival check in formalities and relax. Visit to City Palace Museum. It is one of the most important landmarks in Jaipur city. Built by Sawai Jai
Singh, the architecture of the palace takes inspiration from Mughal, Rajput and European architectural styles. The collection at the museum at the palace consists of Rajasthani costumes, armory, art gallery with excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets and rare astronomical works. A notable exhibit is a pair of pure silver jars that are the largest silver vessels in the world.
In the evening, visit a unique museum dedicated to Rajasthani folk, RRAP Music Museum and Hub. The museum highlights the folk musician and musician communities of Rajasthan. It has a permanent exhibition, many outreach programmes, workshops, performances
and diverse events to showcase Rajasthan’s diverse intangible folk heritage.
Suggestion for dinner: A Rajasthani meal at Arya’s Niwas Chitra Restaurant or a meal at a traditional setting at Chokhi Dhani (payable extra).
Day 2:
Start the day after breakfast with a drive to Tilonia, a place 100 kms from Jaipur and takes about 2 hours to reach. Reach Barefoot College in Tilonia to spend a full day there. Founded in 1972 by Bunker Roy, is an organization spread across 8 acres, runs entirely on solar energy
and is maintained by Barefoot solar engineers. Barefoot’s solutions on a rural level can be broadly segregated into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural handicrafts, women’s empowerment, people’s action, communication and wasteland development.
A suggested add on to visit to Pushkar which is 65 kms away from Tilonia or on the way back to Jaipur, stop for a light & sound show at Amber Fort in Jaipur. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 3:
Day three covers local sightseeing in the city of Jaipur with a lady guide. It includes a trip to the magnificent Amber Fort. 800 years old, the complex has many beautiful buildings such as the ‘Diwan-i-Aam’, ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and even has a different palace for different seasons. The fort also houses the much revered Shila Devi Temple and the magnificent Ganesh Pol, the gate leading to the royal palace complexes. The fort also offers elephant rides from the base to fort in morning time and a mesmerizing light and sound show in evening.
Next stop is the Jaigarh Fort, located on the Cheel ka Tila of the Aravalli range. This battle fort was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1726 using red sandstones. A unique architectural feature is the underground water reservoir that holds upto 60 gallons of water. Being a military base, it houses armory of various kinds, now displayed at the museum in fort complex itself. The collection also includes the giant Jaivana cannon, that was cast in the year 1720. It weighs 50 tons and is famous for being the world’s largest canon.
On the way back visit Jal Mahal. It was built in the year 1750 by Maharaja Madho Singh and is a beautiful palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake that uses Rajput style of architecture. It is an ideal for a photo stop on the way to Amber where one can also spot a lot of waders & other birds especially in winters.
Lunch at the Hotel. The tour ends post lunch.
