Amber Fort: 11 kms from old Jaipur town lays one of the most famous forts of Rajasthan, Amber Fort. 800 years old, the complex has many beautiful buildings such as the ‘Diwan-i-Aam’, ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and even has a different palace for different seasons. The fort also houses the much revered Shila Devi Temple and the magnificent Ganesh Pol, the gate leading to the royal palace complexes. The fort also offers elephant rides from the base to fort in morning time and a mesmerizing light and sound show in evening.
Jaigarh Fort: Located on the Cheel ka Tila of the Aravalli range, this battle fort was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1726 using red sandstones. A unique architectural feature is the underground water reservoir that holds upto 60 million gallons of water. Being a military base, it houses armory of various kinds, now displayed at the museum in fort complex itself. The collection also includes the giant Jaivana cannon, that was cast in the year 1720. It weighs 50 tons and is famous for being the world’s largest canon on wheels.

Nahargarh Fort (Tiger fort): Nahargarh means ‘abode of tigers’. A sentinel to the pink city since 1734, it provides stunning views of city that are particularly enjoyed during sunrise and sunset. The fort complex houses a unique and contemporary sculpture park, sheesh mahal and a wax museum as its new attractions.
City Palace: The City Palace complex is one of the most important landmarks in Jaipur city. Built by Sawai Jai Singh, the architecture of the palace takes inspiration from Mughal, Rajput and European architectural styles. The collection at the museum at the palace consists of Rajasthani costumes, armory, art gallery with excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets and rare astronomical works. A notable exhibit is a pair of pure silver jars that are the largest silver vessels in the world.
Hawa Mahal: Built in 1799 A.D., Hawa Mahal is perhaps the most popular and well-known structure of Jaipur and is also referred to as ‘The Palace of Winds’. The structure that has 953 windows, was part of the zenana complex from which the ladies of the royal household used to observe the processions of the city.
Jantar Mantar Observatory: Jantar Mantar Observatory is one of the 5 observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. This world heritage site is the largest and the most well preserved out of the five. The Samrat Yantra in the complex is biggest sundial in the world. Instruments like Chakra Yantra, Dakshin Bitti Yantra, Jai Prakash Yantra are also few of the main attractions in the complex. All these instruments provide fairly accurate readings till this date.
